Q. Do you rent to "groups" ?

A. In general the answer to this questions is NO. We rent to mostly FAMILIES . Our house is set up accordingly and we limit ourselves to mostly families. We specifically do NOT rent to student groups, high school senior week groups, prom week groups, college frat or sorority groups, groups for "partying" etc. NOTE : Offers of a larger security deposit or to have parents co-sign to take responsibility / etc. will not change our policy on this. . - If you are not sure if we would rent to your "group" you can email us with specifics but I think those of you that we will not rent to know who you are.

Q. How far is it to the beach?

A. It takes a few minutes to walk to the beach. Typically 3 to 6 minutes.

Q. Who cleans up after our rental week?

A. Our policy is to have each renter clean the house at the end of their stay. We supply cleaning supplies and a handy checklist. Cleaning service can be arranged by landlord for an additional fee of $ 100.00 or more, depending on how much work is needed... this fee must be prearranged at lease signing and may be deducted from your security deposit. Also, additional security deposit may be required. That being said, it is a small cottage and try to keep a good supply of everything you need to clean.

Q. Is there phone service in the house?

A. Yes, there are 2 telephones with local service and 800 number service. For any toll calls, the renter must use their calling card or cell phone.

Q. Can we come to the house and take a tour to see it in person.

A. Probably not. We live 2.5 hours away and though we utilize the house in the off season a lot, we cannot guarantee when we will be there. If we happen to be there, we will be happy to show you the house with an appointment. If you click on "Picture Gallery" there are pictures of almost every square inch of the house. We have been renting for years and have only showed it one time and have had only compliments.

Q. Is there internet access?

A. Yes, there is high speed internet access by Comcast with a wireless access point. Special equipment and/or expertise may be needed to adapt this service to your laptop but if your computer has an ethernet jack and/or wireless card or Centrino technology, you will probably easily be able to log on and use the service. We have had MANY renters use this service with satisfactory results. The landlord makes no guarantee as to the adaptability of your equipment to use this service and makes no guarantee that you will be successful in using this service but it is provided nonetheless.

Q. Are linens supplied by the landlord with the house rental?

A. As with most beach property rentals, linens are NOT supplied. You will find our house outfitted with more amenities than most, that is for sure, but you will still need bed linens, towels etc. , personal items. These items are available to be rented by rental companies at the Jersey shore.

Q. Is there room in the bedrooms for a crib and/or playpen?

A. NO. This is a small beach cottage that is well outfitted with comfortable furniture, dining set, a desk area and entertainment center. There just is NOT room anywhere inside for these items.

Q. Is there an outside shower?

A. Yes, there is an outside shower (heated) to clean off beach sand prior to entering the house.

Q. We want to rent a week, what do we do next. ?

A. Contact the landlord NOW and fax or email your application with your processing fee and 1/2 of the rent and security deposits. This will make a firm reservation for your week.

Q. Will we need beach tags to go on the beach? How Much do they cost? Where do we get them?

A. Yes, you will need beach tags. Ocean City beach tags are on sale Monday - Friday at City Hall, 9th street and Asbury Avenue. Season tags may be purchased for $13 prior to May 31. Beginning June 1 the tags will cost $18. Weekly tags will be $8; daily tags, $4; and weekend tags, $5 each day. Saeson tags may be ordered through the mail; include a $3 handling fee per order and send to City of Ocean City, Beach Fee Office, 9th Street and Asbury Avenue, Ocean City, NJ 08226. Beginning March 30 beach tags will also be sold on the Music Pier on the weekends and starting April 27th they will be available, daily, at the information center, 46th Street municipal building and the Music Pier. Call the city at 609-399-6111 for information.

Q. Is there a restaurant / etc. nearby in walking distance?

A. Things change from season to season but there are places to get pizza / etc. typically within a few blocks distance, sometimes closer. The property is in a more residential section. Within minutes by car is everything!

Q. Is it OK if we arrive and check in early?

A. We are sorry but our check-in time of 4PM is firm. We need time to check the house prior to your rental.

Q. Is there off-street parking ?

A. There is a shared driveway on the left side front of the house that may be used for your parking. Regardless, parking on the street is usually available. Parking is usually not an issue in the Gardens area of Ocean City.

Q. What can kids do on a rainy day?

A. The City has a great recreation program, you can call the main office at 609-525-9294 for up to date information on camps and activities. Also you can call our Aquatic & Fitness Center at 609-398-6900 for their full range of programs.
